Fibreglass Roofing Installation

Flat roofs

A flat or nearly flat roof has little pitch to send water into the gutter. A GRP fibreglass coating is seamless, with no joints, weatherproof, and used on flat roofs, dormers, garage roofs and balcony coverings.

The boards along the roof

Fascia, soffit and the gutter

A lot of fascias and soffits in Carlisle and Dumfries are still the original timber, which needs painting every few years. Replacing them, or covering them, takes away that maintenance and can keep the felt at the edge of the roof from perishing.

  • Fascia. The long board along the lower edge of the roof. It is fixed to the rafters, carries the gutter, and supports the bottom row of tiles.
  • Soffit. The board under the fascia, the one you see from the street. It can be ventilated. Without ventilation, condensation forms in the roof and the timber decays faster.
  • Barge board. The board on the gable end.
  • Box end. Where the fascia, soffit and barge board meet at a corner.
Conservatory Roof Replacement in Cumbria

A warm roof on the conservatory

World Group fits the Icotherm lightweight warm roof, a timber-core system for a new conservatory or to replace a polycarbonate one that is too cold in winter and too hot in summer. It is approved for building control, with a U-value as low as 0.13, pitches from 12.5 degrees, and a changeover in a few days. It suits an Edwardian, Victorian, P-shape or lean-to, and the tile finishes are chosen to sit near a traditional slate roof.

A glass roof is the other way to use the room all year: Ultraframe glass roofs, lanterns and skylights, usually quicker to fit than a solid roof.
